The Chamber of Odds
Kiwi Gardens Sculpture Project, Perth, Ontario, 2009
In situ sculpture in a tree nursery. Curator: Edward Day Gallery, Toronto, Ontario
Apple tree, cedar poles, willow branches, raffia, pine needles, etched ground
4x4x4m
When visiting Kiwi Gardens, my eye got caught by the very long and gnarled branche of an apple tree. Looking both fragile and strong, the branche had already been braced by Paul Loiselle, the owner.
I decided to work with and around that very branche, making it the centre of attention and the core of the Chamber of Odds. Nature shows strength, beauty, balance; I accompany nature in a celebration of its creative path. |
